Objectives

  1. By the end of the activity, participants will list at least two facts about mental health. 

  2. By the end of the activity, participants will  identify four accessible mental health resources available for college students. 

  3. By the end of the activity, participants will have access to a short meditation video.

  4. By the end of the activity, participants will have at least three journaling prompts for future use.

Statistics

  • Stigma prevents 40% of people with anxiety and depression from seeking medical help (CAMH, 2021). 

  • Doing 30 minutes or more of exercise a day for three to five days a week may significantly improve depression or anxiety symptoms. (Mayo Clinic, 2017).

  • In 2019, there were an estimated 51.5 million adults aged 18 or older in the United States with AMI (any mental illness). This number represented 20.6% of all U.S. adults (NIMH, 2021).

Journaling

Journaling is a great way to reduce anxiety! Here are some journal prompts:

 

  • Today, I am thankful for…

  • Make a list of 15 things you love about yourself

  • What is something that I need to let go of?

  • Make a list of 10 affirmations to repeat when your anxiety spikes

  • What are some self-care ideas for when I’m feeling overwhelmed?
